NO GOODBYES (CHAPTER 41)
She turned on her phone light and remembered where the generator was, but got stuck on the stairs and stayed there for a minute, thinking of how to move it to the generator house; she thought if Brian was with her, he'd have done that instead, but since she's alone, she'd have to do it.
She stood up from the stairs, went to the kitchen and said to herself, "if I must do this, then I should have a drink at least to present me the mental strength and capacity to do the work" then she opened the fridge and found a bottle of wine already opened but was half full. (apparently, that was the bottle her friends didn't finish from the night before).
She opened it, poured some into a glass cup and drank everything at once, poured another one and emptied the glass again, and as she wanted to pour the third one, she stopped and decided to carry the entire bottle with her to where the generator was.
She opened the cellar because the generator house is behind it, it is in a closet built behind the cellar. So she went in and opened the door and saw the generator, it dawned on her how big it is... She drank what was remaining in the bottle she was holding on seeing the generator, stood there watching it with her phone light.
"Do you need help with something ma'am"
She startled in fear, flashing the light all over the cellar but didn't see anyone, then he (Audrey) spoke again, " is there something I can help you with, Ariana?" At this point, Ariana was already panicking and this time she flashed the light down and saw Audrey getting up from the ground dusting himself, and she didn't know what to say because what she heard was the most softest, and sweetest of voices she'd heard in a long time and such voices has potential of doing so much to someone, she wondered who it was and how that first, he is in her house, and secondly, at that time of the day.
As soon as she could concentrate, she asked him, "you are the police guy, are you not?"
"Yes, I am." He went on... " I know you might be wondering what I'm doing in your cellar at this time of the day, I must say, you have wonderful collections and, he paused..."
"Thank you" Ariana replied and waited for him to get to the part where he was going to tell her what he was doing in the cellar. So she insisted by glaring at him and he understood and continued...
"There was a particular wine I drank from last night, it was unbelievably great so I came here to fetch another one and I think that's where I slept off after having had some, I hope it's okay by you, like being here in this part of the house... Ariana took a deep breath and let it out slowly, then told him it was fine even though she does not really know him yet, but if he stuck with Brian and the rest to get justice for Mr Anderson as they said, then a friend to her friends could also be her friend.
He stretched out his hand to hers saying, "allow me to reintroduce myself, my name is Audrey Ann"
"Nice to meet you Audrey Ann. My name is Ariana."
"It's nice to make your acquaintance" Audrey replied, they shook hands.
She told him the situation they were in and Audrey helped carried the generator out and tried to make it work but it refused to start, he changed the fuel and tried again, but it won't start still, Audrey advised they go back into the house and think of what to do next.
