"The weather calls for it". I think it's not only the weather that calls for it, Daniel's situation also calls for it as people tend to take alcoholic drinks whenever they have an emotional breakdown. But my question is, does the liquor help? After you're back to the real world, doesn’t it all come back?

Anyways, people do things that work for them and they find peace in doing it, so whatever that works for you, you should keep doing.

Daniel got four glasses from the kitchen and took to the cellar where Mr Anderson was seated waiting for him.
Mr Anderson asked, "Is anybody joining us?" Daniel replied in the negative. “So why are you with four glasses then?", Mr Anderson retorted.
Apparently, he didn't even realize when he brought the glasses.

Mr Anderson told him it was fine and beckoned him to sit. He took the bottle of whiskey from Daniel, opened it, poured some for him and then himself. While they tasted the whiskey with their tongue looking at each other, Daniel rushed to the kitchen to fetch some ice because the ice maker would have some ice by them, he thought to himself considering the generator has been for a while. He got there, got some of it and added
to Mr Anderson's glass and it became better in taste. Mr Anderson thanked Daniel.

As they sat and talked about the situation facing Daniel, Alexandra heard those movements in the kitchen and went to check it out. There, she heard them talking about her. So, she went closer to the eavesdrop and before she knew it, she had stayed there for more than thirty minutes forgetting she left Audrey in the living room.

There, she realized how madly in love Daniel had been with her. She became emotional and desired to see his face while he spoke. She could not achieve that because Audrey came looking for her as he felt she had stayed more than she was supposed to. Unfortunately for Alexandra, Audrey's entrance gave Alexandra away, and made Mr Anderson and Daniel soon realize they were not alone.
